This CD is dedicated to the memory of Corine Duke
“Happy Trails” till we meet again.
HAPPY TRAILS

This is the first recording I’ve made since the passing of my wife
Corine and that brought a lot of emotion to this recording. It’s been a tough period,
but I’m determined to move forward – Happy Trails my love! Second, I would like
to thank the Teena Marie Estate for allowing me to use the song "Ball & Chain"
which is undoubtedly one of the last recordings of this powerhouse singer. I must
also thank Lee Cadena who helped us pull the whole thing off. I produced the
track which I believe is testimony to her unique talent as a writer and singer –
Happy Trails to you as well Lady T. Third, this is one of the last, if not the last
recording of guitarist Jef Lee "greazy" Johnson. Jef was an amazing musician who
had the unique ability to bring unwavering, unorthodox melodies and rhythms to
a track – Happy Trails to you as well my brutha!

Artists are DreamWeavers.
We take tangible and intangible elements from the known world
and combine them with elements from the spiritual world in
order to reach deeper levels of connection and understanding
between the two. We spin the undeveloped yarn of ideas into
reality - it is the ultimate act of creating something from nothing
in this world. In short, we are the storytellers and conduits of
possibilities. I paint my musical canvas with many diverse
elements, for that is the way of life and definitely the way I roll,
so enjoy the ride...as Cannon used to say – "Ahoom."

Come on and stand up / Shoulder
to shoulder stand together let our voices be heard /
Singing in harmony, let all our voices speak as one /
Kennedy
< We can Change The World – We can
Change The World
Well, here I am again sitting in front of this computer
screen at 3 in the morning paying some bills – and
you come across my mind real heavy / And I want to
reach out to you – say something funny, just say
“hello” / I’d really like to call you but it’s late so I
think I’ll send you an email that you can pick up in
the morning / And I know I haven’t seen you in a
long time but that doesn’t mean my feelings aren’t
strong. Sometimes it seems we just go along from
day to day not saying the things we should say -
but right here right now for me today I want you to
know that girl I’ve been Missing You…
Singing of hope and peace / Come on and stand up
/ Speaking the words and truth to power we can fill
the need / Come on rise up, putting our hearts and
minds together for the world to see
George Duke – vocal, synths, & drum programming /
Michael Patches Stewart – trumpet / Kamasi
Washington – tenor sax / Terry Dexter – bg vocal /
Shannon Pearson – bg vocal / Lamont VanHook – bg
vocal / Rashid Duke – Ahoom / Erik Zobler – Ahoom
George Duke
< With all the problems we face in the
world today / I know it’s difficult to believe that a
single person / or group of people can possibly
make a difference / But every solution begins with a
dream / And a dream is the substance of things
hoped for / And hope put into action can be the
beginning of something profound / My wish is that
this song will uplift spirits and musically offer the posi-
tive messages that the world so desperately needs
Chorus
It's only a dream, impossible as it seems /
If we put aside our differences, respect each others
needs / Standing strong when things get tough
we'd Change The World / It's only a dream but we
could Change The World
I grew up in a small town, World War II housing for
people of color / Now when I was a kid
round 8 years old my bedroom wall was next to a
single guy, a thin wall away from mine – was that a
sign? / Trippin’ on the Memories – the memories
Used by permission from Jay Alatas and Paxton Baker

Alatas Family Foundation "Yayasan Bait Alatas."
Gather round let's talk a minute, what I have to say's
quite simple / But's so very hard to do /
what have we got to lose?
Nearly every weekend the guy played music that I
later found out was Jazz / The bass thumped, the
sax wailed, the trumpet soared – maybe Ray Charles
or Les McCann / The sound was oh so soulful with a
lot of blues...maybe it was Miles / The music really
drew me in, I loved the way it made me feel, made
me hope and dream / Trippin’ on the Memories –
the memories
Verse 1
It seems as the days go by that many times and in
many ways the simple things in life pass us by /
The ones we love who need a hug, the kids we
bare who need to snug.
Lalah Hathaway
< There are problems everywhere /
Seems like people just don't care enough to make a
change / They keep on playing the same old games
Jeffrey Osborne
< USA to Africa, Mexico to
Indonesia / Imagine what we could be if we'd
opened up our eyes to see (somebody say)
It’s all about giving, and sharing, and letting them
know how much we care and how much we’re
aware of who they are and that they’re special and
rare and so...
The music would play as he got dressed to do what
you do at the club / When he’d leave he’d turn off
the music till he came home with some girl to rub /
The music would start up again, surrounded by the
sex, the groans, the knocks on the wall / Mama
what’s all this screamin’ Is somebody hurt or did
somebody fall?
Lori Perry
< Can't we all just get along? Seems we
don't know right from wrong / I see it everywhere,
we need to wake up and learn to share
Chorus
Girl, I've been Missing You / The things we'd do /
We are one / You are my everything / Spreading our
wings / With no words unspoken
Chorus
It's only a dream, impossible as it seems /
If we put aside our differences and hold back our
fears / Wash away the prejudice and wipe away the
tears
I loved the music, I loved the way it drew me in /
Loved the way it made me feel... / made me hope
and dream that one day – It’d be me / Playing on the
records, me and that lady, knockin’ on the thin walls
Verse 2
It's only a dream, but in my heart I've seen / If we
put our heads together, respect each other's needs /
Standing strong when things get tough we'd Change
The World / (We can Change The World)
Tomorrow certainly isn’t promised and no one
knows what the future will bring / So let’s let our
love flow like a river run free and let it fly like a bird
in the sky above the mountain tops on high /
And like a lion let’s let it roar, and like an Eagle
let’s let it soar
Later I find that music can be what you want it to be
/ its the the yin and the yang - as Cannon used to
say / Ahoom – Trippin on the Memories /
As Ball used to say – Ahoom /
The Ball said – Ahoom
